Hello Abundancers & Friends!
We’ve had a busy, busy jam-packed long weekend, despite the mist and temperature drop. Here’s a run-down of this long weekend, and check out below if you haven’t heard from us but want to get involved and also for Upcoming Events!
–> we sent some harvested apples to the Oxford Food Surplus Café, which was a huge success, altogether we cooked & served over 300+ affordable, nutritious & delicious meals from food surplus that otherwise wouldn’t have been eaten, right on the Cowley Road!
–> we made communal jam with apples and a jelly-starter in a get-stuck-in skill-share outside in the glorious sunshine in OxGrow Community Garden on Hogacre Common, as part of their Pumpkin Festival!
–> we had a mini grape harvest and pressing yesterday, singing work-songs and drinking wine in anticipation (to empty another bottle or two ready for the gorgeous green juice!) in the shelter of a lovely East Oxford vine
Photos to follow, but if you’d like to join in any such activities, then please do make sure you’re following our blog (click FOLLOW BLOG in the far right column of the home-page), and have let us know whether you particularly want to be involved in picking fruit, making jam, redistributing fruit surplus through outreach or more (tree care, brewing, sauerkrauting, et al!)
Haven’t heard from us but want to get involved?
–> Email AbundanceHarvestsOxford@gmail.com with your name and phone number, as we might have had misread your email address, and let us know what floats your fruit bowl… * Harvesting * Preserve-Making (Chutney to Jam, fermenting and beyond!) * Redistributing * Helping with Workshops with Kids/Outreach Charities * Baking & Cooking * Cycling things around with the bike trailer! * Publicity / Making Posters * Website Help * Making Info-Graphics! * Tree Care * Foraging * & more…..
