‘Appley New Year everyone!
We arise momentarily from our Dec/Jan wintery hibernation to join together at Hogacre Common off Whitehouse Road (off Abingdon Road, here!) for a good ol’ winter warmer Wassail this Saturday from 4pm!
All welcome! More info below & on the –> Hogacre Common Facebook page…
Abundance is still doing informal cook-ups of food surplus that we are
taking to homeless shelters, on a small-scale due to kitchen sizes, but if
there is lots of interest then we could find bigger places to cook.
If you’d like to find out more, add your surplus to the pot or join in,
email AbundanceHarvestsOxford@gmail.com or text 07708776392
Our first open meeting will be end of Jan/early Feb so look out for that!
We’ll be in action in February / March for pruning season! All welcome to learn!
Hope to see you tomorrow for a ‘wassail!
Toodle Pip!
A Wassailing We Go !
The annual Wassailing of the Hogacre Common orchard is this Sat 7th Jan, 4pm.
Think mulled cider, bonfire, great music, bellowing singing and hot soup, and some Abundancers will be making cakes/crumbles to take – please do bring some too if you can; and bring musical instruments both for the wassail and for the fire-side afterwards too!
On Saturday 7th January 2017 at 4pm sharp as a sharply sweet apple, the Wassail will start:- there’ll be singing, dancing and making a general racket in the Hogacre Orchard.
Wassailers will be led, as last year by Hogacre’s expert master of the Wassail, Tim Healey, accompanied by Cry Havoc Morris and Skeleton Crew.
There will be raucous blessing of the apple trees in hope of abundant crops in the coming year whilst having a lot of fun doing so!
All welcome! Donations kindly welcomed too!
