Hello!
We’ve now got ONE harvest lined up on Tuesday 27th evening, and then after the harvest, we’ll be heading over to The Star pub, on Rectory Road for a social to celebrate everything that made Apple Day great and also catch up and meet newbies at our first Abundance Social in a while! Join us in the pub if you can’t come picking!
Open to all, whether you were at Apple Day or not! To the social: bring yourselves, bring preserves/food to share/excess produce to share out (we’ll bring apples for all!) or just bring your diaries to see if you can make any harvest or preserve-making sessions!
Tues 27th October: 1 Apple/Pear Harvests + Abundance Social 🙂 https://www.facebook.com/events/1516796995311886/
* Harvest on Winchester Road, 5:30pm – 7pm (2 apple trees, 1 big pear tree with small fruit)
(the tree is quite well lit and we’ll have good lights, bring your own lights too if you can!)
[FYI we had to postpone the original additional harvest that was due to take place as well on Tues evening due to the principal carer of the home-owner not being available , so if you wanted to come to both, sorry about that, but we will let you know asap till when, if you are keen to join, please email now to let us know and we’ll tell you when we finalise the day/time, and try fix it so you can make it! The original additional harvest was: * Harvest on Norham Road , 2 apple trees (1 eater, 1 cooker) time and date TBC
(we’ll have lights and we’ll bring spare gloves for cold hands!) [students, this is by St Anthony’s College]
* Abundance social after! 8pm – 9:30pmish in The Star pub, Rectory Road

ALL WELCOME! New and old and regular volunteers aplenty, friends, colleagues and housemates welcome too, to find out more! Bring and share preserves/food, meet people, share recipes, allocate trees for harvest etc. or just bring yourselves and your diaries and find out more!
[For those whom want to, there is time between the harvest and the social to head to the consultation on the city council budget cuts on the way to the pub – the council will be forced to cut libraries, art facilities and more, so if you are interested in finding out more about this, come along and more information here. http://www.chadlington.com/archives/25021
All welcome to join in the harvest & the social (& in attending as much of the consultation as we can), but please RSVP!
– Email AbundanceHarvestsOxford@gmail.com with your name & number & which harvest(s) you can do
– Text us the day before to confirm you are still coming (and/or we’ll text you)
Ideally you’d have a bike with you to get to the social if you want to come after the harvest(remember to bring lights as it’ll be dark when we finish!) or you could get on a bus from the city centre.
1 hour is a great amount of time for a harvest, and you’ll have fun, learn lots and have some free fruits for your labour, so it’ll be worth the ride 🙂
