Oxford’s favourite community edible garden, OxGrow has a glut & Oxford’s urban harvesters Abundance are joining forces with them to skill-share on how to use the produce in different and inventive ways, cook up a few things together- and then we’ll try the fruits of our labour together, yum! Free Entry.
Garden open: 5:30 ~ 8pm [A map to the garden can be found here]
Garden Tour: 6pm (if there is enough demand)
Preserving Session: 6:15pm ~ 8:30pm.
So come down from 5:30pm to have a look around, see what goes on at wonderfully abundant OxGrow and get stuck in! There would be no amazing vegetable glut if there was no gardening, and all tools are provided (for gardening & for preserving).
We’ll be harvesting gluts in the garden, as well as perhaps foraging some extra treats (which might include late nettle and meadowsweet), and then cooking up a few different delicious recipes. If you’ve got some, bring your favourite recipes for gluts of beetroot, beetroot leaves and salad leaves, or bring recipes you’ve always wanted to try – or why not learn some new recipes from others to help make the most of these gluts. Here are some ideas for starters… We’ve also got a glut of potatoes so if there are enough people, we’ll also cook up a soup to feed hungry gardeners and interested garden visitors, so if you don’t like beetroot there will be other things to make and try!
If you’d like to take a jar of any preserves made home then it would be great if you could bring a small donation to cover costs of the preserving ingredients used. Thank you!

OxGrow is open every Wednesday from 5:30 pm – ~8pm during summer months & we may run more garden, harvest & preserve sessions, so look out for them and let us know if you’re interested in joining in! OxGrow is also open EVERY Sunday 1-4pm: rain or shine, summer or winter and all are welcome to join in on these sessions too!
Hope to see lots of you tomorrow evening for outdoor harvesting, skill-sharing, cooking & fun!
