3 days till FOODISCO! & 3 food waste facts.. (Thurs 21/11, Bonn Square)

days are left till it’s FOODISCO Day on Thursday 21st !

So here are three 3 – related food waste facts for you…

  • Did you know, UK consumers waste on average 1/3rd of the food they buy, costing the average household £420 each year.
  • Globally, 33% of food is lost to consumer waste, processing waste, and post-harvest losses.
  • If we could avoid this loss, we could feed an additional 3 billion people.

To help raise awareness of food wastage, and encourage everyone to engage in communal cooking and eating and start thinking about how we can reduce food wastage, along to live music, we’ll be FOODISCO-ing! the first event of it’s kind, in Bonn Square (opposite the Westgate Centre) 11-4pm on 21st November. All welcome, of all ages, to pop by at any time or even spend the day helping us out !

It’s free, we’ll be serving and cooking from 11-4pm, and you can drop by on your lunch break or on your way to the shops, chop up some veg or help press some apple juice or even pedal a smoothie & then tuck into some hot soup! We’d love you to stick around and get involved too if you can!

If you are of a musical nature or know others who are- we’re looking for some souper upbeat musicians to get everyone choppin’ along with us! Please contact

If you’ve got spare time and would like to help behind the scenes and be one of our SOUPERVISERS then please email abundanceharvestsoxford@gmail.com and we’ll send you our volunteer sign up form!
