All year round you can join in: whether it’s with tree care in winter-time, foraging in spring and autumn, harvesting and back garden and allotment veg gluts and finally, fruit, glorious fruit. Whether we are outdoors, getting stuck in to Oxford’s abundance in the nature around us or indoors cooking up a storm to preserve produce that might otherwise go to waste, there’s something for all ages and interests!

We’re hoping to engage and organise the event with organisations supporting those in food poverty- please email abundanceharvestsoxford@gmail.com if you know an organisation that might be interested in getting involved! Abundance Meeting 21st March (Postponed from 11th March), venue tbc, either upstairs of Turl st kitchen in Oxford hub, or a venue off Iffley road. – Abundance Social! 25th March [Every 4th Tuesday of the month, 6-9pm in The Star] Bring some food to share if you like! – Pruning: We had our first pruning session on 1st March & are looking for more trees in need of some TLC – especially from those willing to donate their excess (if any) to the project in return come harvest! – Sign up to our newsletter: http://eepurl.com/ubVtX [usually only sent out to promote big events where we need lots of people to get involved (i.e less than once a fortnight)] Come chat to us– whether that be to exchange recipes, tell us about what you’ve been foraging, or talk about your fruit- how it’s coming along, any problems you’ve had with it and if you’d like to offer some of your excess to the project.

Look out for our workshops that will happen across harvest season, when we get gluts of produce and want to make preserve them in workshops together! Abundance Meeting (Thursday 5th September) @ Turl Street Kitchen, in the room upstairs called “The Living Room”. Arrive 6:45-7pm, Meeting 7pm-9pm with 15 mins break for a food-share! We’ll break into working groups for the second half, so think about what aspects of Abundance (harvesting, preserving, redistribution, baking, chatting to people on stalls, improving the flyer etc etc) that you’d like to get involved with & come chat about it at the meeting! – 07 – 08 Sept: Overgrown Orchard Rescue & Harvest: – Overgrown Orchard Clearing & Fruit Harvest – Sat 7th & Sun 8th September, down Botley Road. All hands on deck, wear sturdy clothes & bring tupperware for blackberries & fabric bags for heavier fruit! 07 Sept: Black Bird Leys Fete – 08 Sept: South Ox Farmer’s Market: Abundance @ SOFACOMA (South Oxford Farmers Market) – Sun 8th September in South Ox Community Centre on Lake Street, off Abingdon Road. Free fruit (donations welcome) and flyers to give to neighbours who have lots of fruit. Feel free to bring donations of fruit to us as well or even SWAP your excess with our excess! – Barracks Lane Harvest Festival (Saturday 14th September – daytime) – “Three Acres and a Cow” @ Hogacre Common (Saturday 14th September – evening) Folk + Food fundraiser about land rights & food growing – Hogacre Harvest Festival (Sunday October 13th) off White House Road (off Abingdon Road): Bring apples to get pressed or soft fruits to be pedal-powered into smoothies or just come to join in the Harvest Feast, fun and music. – Abundance’s Apple Day (20th October), at Hogacre Common Eco Park, off White House Road. Join us for a huge apple themed lunch from Abundance Oxford & enjoy a Hog Roast Café tea or coffee to go with it, bring your apples to be pressed into juice, play apple games, make jam with us on a fire, learn cider-making tips and listen to the lovely sounds of Simon Batten and more… – Sun 27th Oct Tolhurst Organic’s Pumpkin & Squash Festival!
