One fine sunny Sunday we set about gathering wheels, metal poles and all the other bits and pieces we’d been setting aside- that had been plied from skips and the wayside during the past months (including an old bike frame found in a skip a year ago!) all in preparation for creation- the creation of Abundance’s bike trailer!
We gathered these forgotten and unwanted things and some food (some, equally rescued from unwanted cupboards and end of day of supermarket shelves as well as home-made and farmers market treats) and made our way to lovely Stig- our bike trailer skill-sharing guru, who had been collecting parts for a while as well to add to his collection of metal brackets, dismantled wooden pallets and eye-lets..
Here are some photos of our escapades!
To free us from fossil-fuel using when paniers and handlebars can’t quite carry out fruity bounty, we wanted to make our own bike trailer… we’d be happy to lend it out to community projects with a similar ethos and community members who need a hand, but during harvest season we think we’ll be using it a fair bit!
